Organizamos este webinario en inglés sobre Directrice pas Concesiones y Alianzas Turísticas en Áreas Protegidas con nuestros aliados del TAPAS group.
In 2012, Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity recognised the tourism sector as the largest global market-based contributor to the financing of protected area systems in many countries. They noted that under appropriate safeguards, tourism can contribute to protected areas through partnerships and concessions without jeopardizing biodiversity. However, many countries currently underutilise tourism as a means to contribute towards the financial sustainability of protected areas. The Secretariat of Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) released new tourism concession guidelines entitled: “Guidelines for tourism partnerships and concessions for protected areas: generating sustainable revenues for conservation and development”. The guidelines are designed to assist countries in addressing this gap. In this webinar, the three authors of the guidelines from the IUCN WCPA Tourism and Protected Areas Specialist Group describe the process of developing the guidelines, its content, and examples of good practice.
